EPIC WIN: Gotti Boy Purchases a Basketball team
"I Put My Team On...."
Posted by outkastz on Tuesday June 02, 2009 11:45 am
For the last couple of weeks, Gotti has been talking about buying a basketball team. No one really thought much of it, then last night (June 1st, 2009) Gotti gives me a call and invites me to see his team. I arived and couldn't believe what I saw. 10 random grown men sporting OutKastz.com shirts playing basketball. When I couild speak again (speechless) I told Gotti I'd be right back....SoI ran to the car and grabbed the camera.
Check out the rest of the pics here!
Gotti's response: "I put my team on...it was my turn to turn it up, yeah.... See that Eric, I PUT MY TEAM ON."

Applebees Bans Rap Music
Freedom of speech in question
Posted by outkastz on Wednesday May 20, 2009 1:46 am
I was beside myself when David was turned down. So much so that I took the time to fill out the form on the Applebees website. This is what I entered.
I have an issue with the Karaoke policy currently enforced at the local Applebees.
Here is a little backstory, I run the website here (OutKastz.com)...its a local group of people who have events that we plan and what not. Well, one of our events/hang outs is Applebees on Tuesday nights for karaoke. We have gone for months and are great friends with a lot of the servers and management, we are all regulars who typically eat there roughly 3-4 times a week.
Two of my members, David Gotti, who performs under his stage name "Gotti Boy Tellem", and his brother, Eric Gotti (Young Gotti), would always go and perform the song "Crank Dat" by "Soulja Boy" as a parody. Frankly, they were pretty good at it and would get everyone hyped and into it, all in fun. (As seen on youtube here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIEQqmCpkbE ) Lots of the regulars and many other guests/customers rather enjoyed the performances and would even request for them to perform weekly. Sometimes customers would even get up and do the "crank dat" dance with them.
In any case, two weeks ago we were informed that they were going to have to start enforcing a "no rap" policy for karaoke due to the fact that an older lady complained to corporate because she didn't like rap music.
So the next day we decided we would call corporate (even the karaoke DJ, Kelly, called about the issue) and attempt to smooth things over, we weren't using any profanity and were quite puzzled as to why one complaint would cause a ban on a whole genre of music and its culture. We simply asked questions like "Why the ban on just rap music, the jukebox plays rap all day? I'm not changing the CLEAN lyrics, so I know profanity isn't the issue" and a hypothetical of "What if someone didn't like country music, would you put a ban on country music?" obviously not everyone is going to be happy with all types of music but that is besides the point. It's more of a freedom of speech issue at this point. My group feels discriminated against and feel as though our rights as American citizens are being challenged because of the music we like to sing/rap to.
I'd like to point out that Billboard's top 40 karaoke songs include "Baby Got Back" and "Ice Ice Baby" which are now currently banned at Applebees.
I'd also like to point out all of the youtube videos containing rap music at Applebees.

Please feel free to email me or call me with any questions or if I didn't make myself clear, I'll take the time to answer and I'm sure we can work this out. I'm not trying to cause any trouble. Like I mentioned before, we have become friends with the staff and even the karaoke DJ over the last few months. If I don't hear anything in a few days, I plan on posting my issue on the consumerist website and involving the local news channel's investigative journalist.
Thank you and I hope to hear back from you soon.
